1. Question: Do you provide discount?

Answer: Yes, we provide discount as follows:

10% if annual fee paid in advance.

5% if annual fee paid 3 months in advance.

10% sibling discount for each subsequent child.

2. Question: Do you have a uniform?

Answer: Our school uniform policy is as follows: While we may introduce a more formal uniform at a later date, we find that allowing children to wear their own choice of clothes complements the international ethos of the school. Children may wear any clothing they find comfortable as long as it does not interfere with their own learning, others’ learning or the integrity of the school environment.

4. Question: Am I able to observe a lesson?

Answer: Parents are able to make an appointment to visit a classroom and watch a lesson.

5. Question: Do you provide state blue tables?

Answer: Yes, we do in accordance with the Kazakhstan legislation.

6. Question: What documents are required for my child to be enrolled in the school?

Answer: Copy of the child birth certificate, copy of parent passport, 2 passport pictures (3x4cm) of the child, address reference, health and immunization record. The next documents are filled in the school office: application of admission, completed enrolment form and contract.

7. Question: What is international education?

Answer: EtonHouse Kazakhstan International School believes that international education equips students to develop as curious, competent, confident and compassionate global citizens, increasingly capable of engaging with and contributing to the interconnected world of their present and future. An international education both fosters students’ understanding of their own cultural identity and unique history and equips them for respectful and meaningful interaction with a range of individuals and peoples. Some hallmarks of an international education at EKIS include:

–         A commitment to developing ethical values for responsible global citizenship.

–         The cultivation of global perspectives in tandem with an understanding of one’s own cultural roots and history.

–         Multilingualism through the study of English, Russian, and Kazakh, as well as a student’s mother tongue if it is not one of these three languages.

–         Opportunities to serve the local and global community and to understand the importance of such service.

–         The development of cooperative skills and leadership potential through experiences inside and outside of the classroom.

–         An approach to academics that emphasizes a sound foundation of knowledge coupled with the skills of contextual application, problem solving, and analytical and critical thinking.

–         Teaching methodologies that reflect current best practices used in a variety of contexts internationally.

Intercultural learning provides the ideal context for this international education. Therefore, EKIS seeks to structure all school activities intentionally to break down barriers arising from differences and encourage meaningful interaction amongst diverse members of the school community, including variety in home language, national origin, cultural background, race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, and special educational needs.

Within this context, students are best equipped to become the global citizens described in EKIS’s mission. As the targets of this international education go well beyond knowledge of academic facts, an EKIS understanding of high quality learning necessarily includes both developing the sound foundation of academic knowledge and abilities referenced above and the cultivation of the skills and characteristics of a global citizen.

8. Question: How is the school governed, led, and managed?

The school’s governance structure, represented in its ownership and Board of Supervisors, is responsible for the strategic direction of the school and the long-term, broad view planning that drives this vision forward into reality.

EtonHouse Kazakhstan International School is privately owned. Per Kazakhstani law, financial control of the school must therefore be retained by the ownership. The interests of the ownership are represented by the General Director, who cooperates with the Board of Supervisors to determine, and refine on an ongoing basis, the school’s strategic purpose and direction.

The Board of Supervisors currently includes representatives from the parent community of the school, as well as individuals experienced in education, business and strategic planning.

The school’s governance empowers the Principal to be a custodian of that strategic purpose in the management of school operations. The Principal, in turn, provides leadership for the school community, serving as a champion for students’ education and well-being while implementing the guiding statements of the school. The Principal is therefore responsible for the day-to-day management of staff, students, and resources in such a way that leads to the achievement of the goals and vision set by the school’s governance. The Board of Supervisors, with the General Director, also have the responsibility of providing an accountability structure for the Principal’s work and for monitoring the ethical and effective implementation of the school’s guiding statements.

The Principal leads the School Management Team and may delegate some management responsibilities to other senior staff members, including the Deputy Principal and Head TA. The School Management Team oversees the work of the teachers, teachers’ assistants and support staff.
